A client needs your help solving a problem….what’s your sleuthing style?
We’re all gripped with the new series of The Bridge and eagerly awaiting the arrival of ‘Sherlock The Abominable Bride’ which got our little grey cells ticking and ask ourselves this. An important client rings at 5pm on a Friday afternoon and asks for your help in solving a problem. How do you do it? Methodical and precise or bumble about a bit until you stumble upon the answer….
1. Sherlock and Dr Watson
You have a quick brainstorm with colleagues to help but forget to give them any important information about the client or what they want. Dr Watson listens to your ramblings for a few moments and then decides to go to the pub with colleagues and leave you to it. To be honest, you knew the answer before you were asked, the meeting was just for show and now you just need to pass the time until the client calls.
2. Luther
Use all methods you’re not supposed to in order to get to the bottom of the problem. Even talking to the competition on the quiet to get information you need, never letting on to your boss how far you’ve got or what the outcome will be…mainly because you really have no idea yourself.
3. Broadchurch’s Ellie Miller
Ooooh, you’ve had a terrible week and although you are super duper at your job you really just want to get back to the family and look after them. However you put that on hold and carefully start at the beginning and do not let go until you find the solution. Your maverick colleague is just a hindrance so after hearing his thoughts on the matter six times you move aside and solve it yourself. Then head back to the fold for a cuppa.
4. Magnum PI
‘Yes no problem, we’re on it’, goes your client chat as you high five a passer by before getting the keys to your bright red Ferrari 308 GTS. Then on goes Jefferson Starship, as you screech off to meet your buddies on the beach, sink a scotch and slope off into the sunset with a beautiful sidekick. Problem solving? Do you look like you have the time to hang out with people who need help?
5. Saga from The Bridge
Get the facts, study the facts, insult a colleague unwittingly, solve the problem, go home.
